So much survey research is published every week that it is hard to keep track. The idea of “Polls In One Place” is to bring to your attention survey research that (we think) reflects what’s happening beneath the news.
Two things apparently never change: (1) ~80% of Americans are generally satisfied with the way things are going in their personal lives. This number hasn’t changed much (at all) over the course of the last 44 years and (2) Americans (and people all over the world) are ever-gloomier about virtually everything else.
Begin with point #1.
1. Gallup: Americans Largely Satisfied With Their Personal Life
The 83% of Americans who are at least somewhat satisfied with their personal life matches the historical average since 1979, and broad majorities of U.S. adults likewise report they are satisfied with nine specific life aspects.
