In our 30th episode, Joe and I discuss the Big Four Developments of the last two weeks: (1) the Trump assassination attempt, (2) The Republican National Convention, (3) President Biden’s decision to stand down as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee and (4) the first few hours of the Kamala Harris presidential campaign.
Ms. Harris has since locked up her party’s presidential nomination and tapped into a gusher of grass roots enthusiasm. Democrats, who spent much of the last year in a funk over the obviously doomed Biden campaign, suddenly felt like they had what George H.W. Bush once called “Big Mo” (momentum).
How long it lasts is an open question. We’ll be talking about that (and more) with Ann Selzer, one of America’s very best pollsters, on Wednesday. The podcast that emerges from that conversation will be posted on Friday, 2 August.
We hope.
