The Democrats had a very good Convention. There’s no denying that. What the impact will be — in the near term and for the remaining 70 days until the election — is uncertain. What is certain is that the Convention didn’t hurt the Democratic Party’s chances this fall. “Do no harm” is one of the best practices of presidential politics.

Joe Klein and I met up (via Zoom) on Saturday to talk about this. Joe wrote two typically excellent pieces about the Convention, which you can read by clicking here and here. In both pieces, he makes a strong case for why this gathering of The Blues was a (startling) success.
